The Almighty

Scripture for the day:  Exodus 3:13-15 Then Moses said to God, “Indeed, when I come to the children of Israel and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you, and they say to me, ‘What is His name’, what shall I say to them?” And God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.” And He said, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, I AM has sent me to you.”  Moreover God said to Moses, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel: ‘The Lord God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you.  This is My name forever, and this is My memorial to all generations.’”

Change is a part of life.  Yesterday it was 86 degrees.  Short sleeves, ice-cold lemonade to drink, windows down in the car, sunroof open.  Today it is 39 degrees with a wind chill close to freezing and an icy rain pelting the windows.  That four-letter-word “snow” is in the forecast for later today.  It is a big-sweater-day with a mug of hot chocolate and fuzzy slippers.  Change.  Big time!  It is enough to give me emotional whiplash!

Yesterday I was outside all day, working in the yard, shopping, sitting on the deck with my hubby until dark.  Today I’m huddled inside, thankful for a warm house, with a sweater wrapped around me and fuzzy slippers on my feet.

But what I am most thankful for today is my never-changing God.  The great I AM is my Father.  He knows my name.  He loves me.  He knows what I will face tomorrow and when my life on earth will end.  Constancy.  Faithfulness.  Comfort.  Peace.  “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End,” says the Lord, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty”. Rev. 1:8
