Scripture for the day: Psalm 19:14  “Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable to in Your sight, O Lord, my strength and my Redeemer.”

“A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the word”, said the famous American poet Robert Frost.   I like this description of writing, and I feel it is true for me.

I’ve been asked where my ideas come from for this little blog I do.  I hope and pray they are inspired by the Holy Spirit.  When I leave church on Sunday, I feel so close to God.  All the way home, thoughts are rushing into my head.  By the time I am home, most of them are gone.  Some of them come back; some are gone forever.  I only have inspiration when I am close to God.  It is through Bible study, quiet time or Christian music that I find ideas.  Sometimes the words flow easily and quickly.  Other times it is hard to express what I am feeling.

Because people have told me my writing comforts them or inspires them, I pray it is from God.  Otherwise, it is worthless:  just my musings on the printed page.  They are not worth anything to anyone unless God chooses to give them life and meaning.  I pray that my words, my thoughts will be acceptable in His sight and that He will use them to touch a life for Him.

Song for the day:  “Lead Me to Some Soul Today”

I’m not familiar with this song, but the words touched my heart.  They echo beautifully my desire:  that my words will touch just one soul today.

“Lead me to some soul today, O teach me, Lord, just what to say; friends of mine are lost in sin, and cannot find their way.  Few there are who seem to care, and few there are who pray; melt my heart and fill my life, give me one soul today.”

“my musings on the printed page. … God chooses to give them life and meaning. I pray that my words and my thoughts will be acceptable in His sight and that He will use them to touch a life for Him” A quote with an edit.

You express the thoughts of my heart and similar experiences in terms that capture my attention and reassure me that you and God and I are on the same page. Thanks…
